History and local context
Tanakaya dates the sweet to 1972, when founder Masaru Tanaka developed a Japanese-Western souvenir associated with Omachi, gateway to Kurobe Dam. The company itself was established in 1975.
The package uses a ptarmigan painting by Ranzan Seki; the article illustration represents only the actual edible sweet, not that artwork, logo or wrapper.
